Dentures and Partial Dentures

at Caring Dental

A confident smile and comfortable chewing are possible again with well-made dentures. At Caring Dental, we design dentures and partial dentures that look natural, fit comfortably, and support your long-term oral health.

What are dentures?

– Complete dentures: Replace all teeth in an upper or lower arch.

– Partial dentures: Replace several missing teeth while the remaining natural teeth stay in place.

– Immediate dentures: Placed the same day teeth are removed so you never go without a smile while you heal.

– Implant-supported dentures: Snap onto dental implants for extra stability and chewing power.

Who is a good candidate?

– You have many or all teeth missing or failing.

– Your gums are healthy (or can be treated to get healthy).

– You want a removable, cost-effective solution, or a removable option that can be stabilized with implants.

Partial denture options

– Metal framework partials: Strong, thin, with precision clasps that hug select teeth.

– Acrylic partials: Often used as a transitional option; can be bulkier but budget-friendly.

– Flexible partials: Gum-colored and flexible for comfort and esthetics.

We design your partial to protect your remaining teeth and gums and can often plan for adding teeth in the future if needed.

Typical timelines

– Conventional complete or partial dentures: often 3–6 weeks from start (varies by case and lab steps).

– Immediate dentures: placed the day of extractions, with several adjustment visits during healing. A reline or replacement is usually planned after 3–6 months once tissues stabilize.

– Implant-supported dentures: require additional planning and healing time; we’ll outline a customized timeline.

What to expect in the first weeks

– Soreness or pressure: normal and relieved with quick adjustments.

– Speaking: improves as your tongue adapts; reading aloud helps.

– Eating: start with soft foods, cut into small bites, chew slowly on both sides.

– Saliva changes: usually settle within a few days.

Caring for your dentures

– Clean daily: use a soft brush and non-abrasive denture cleanser; avoid regular toothpaste (it can scratch).

– Soak nightly: keep dentures moist when out of your mouth; never use hot water.

– Care for your mouth: brush gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth; floss remaining teeth.

– Adhesives: use only as directed; they’re not a substitute for a proper fit—see us if you need frequent adhesive.

– Checkups: regular visits help prevent sore spots, fungal irritation, and changes in fit.

Alternatives we can discuss

– Fixed bridges for single or short spans.

– Single implants or implant bridges.

– Implant-retained overdentures for maximum stability with a removable option.

Insurance and finances

– Many plans cover part of dentures. We provide a written estimate, help with pre-authorizations, and apply benefits. HSA/FSA funds often apply. We can review financing options at your consultation.
