Is a brand of clear, removable aligners used to straighten teeth. Instead of metal brackets and wires, you wear a series of custom trays that gently move your teeth into position.
How Invisalign works
– Consultation and 3D scan to map your teeth and plan movements.
– Custom aligners are made; you wear each set 20–22 hours per day and switch to a new set every 1–2 weeks.
– Small tooth-colored “attachments” may be placed to help certain movements; minor enamel shaping (IPR) is sometimes used for tight spaces.
– Check-ins every 6–10 weeks. Average treatment time is about 6–18 months, depending on complexity.
– Retainers are worn after treatment to keep teeth in place.
What Invisalign can treat
– Mild to moderate crowding or spacing
– Some overbites, underbites, open bites, and crossbites
– More complex cases may still be better suited for braces or combined approaches.
Benefits
– Nearly invisible and removable
– Fewer food restrictions and easier brushing/flossing
– Typically fewer emergency visits than braces
– Comfortable, smooth plastic
What to expect from you
– Wear aligners consistently (20–22 hours/day)
– Remove for eating/drinking anything besides water
– Clean aligners and brush/floss after meals
– Keep scheduled check-ins
Gum health matters
– Invisalign works best when gums are healthy. Active gum (periodontal) disease should be treated before starting aligners.
– Signs of gum disease include bleeding gums, bad breath, gum recession, tenderness, or loose teeth.
